WOMEN'S INSTITUTES.

NGATEA. The following officers were elected at the annual meeting of the Ngatea Women's Institute:—President, Mrs. E. A. Mahoney; vice-president, Mrs. R. Justin; secretary, Mrs. .T. Leonard; joint treasurers, Mcsdames Williams and J. Galvin; committee, Mcsdames J. Spence, 11. Waite, Hughes, Hunter, and Misses R. Kleiman and E. Barriball. It was decided to hold monthly card afternoons in aid of institute funds. TAIHOA. At the annual meeting of the Taihoo Women's Institute, Mrs. 11. Wright, president, presided over a large number of members. The election of officers for the forthcoming year resulted as follows:—President. Mrs.- A. M. McPhail: secretary, Mrs; A. Puekeridgc; treasurer, Mrs. T. Maxwell; committee, Mesdamcs Holmes, Anderson, Paul, | Wright, Taylor, Council, and Bennett. A bird competition, which was keenly contested, was won by Miss Tierney, while Miss M. Mason won a flower game. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mosdames Bayan and Gould and Miss Gunn. WAITAKARURU. The Waitakaruru Women's Institute celebrated its fifth birthday, and there was a large number of visitors and members, who were welcomed by Mrs. C. Coxhead, president. Competitions were held and a short musical programme was presented by institute members. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdamcs Donaldson, Wyllie, Adams and Cununing. The. birthday cake, made and iced by Mrs. C. Coxhead, was cut bv Mrs. C. Coxhead, after Mcsdames X. Hedges and J. Garland had lit and extinguished the five candles. The afternoon concluded with an amusing charade on the book title, "The Moths of the Limberlost," enacted by Mesdamcs G. Paton, W. Gordon, and J. Pacey.
