BUSINESS RATHER QUIET.
COMMERCIAL BANKS STEADY,
Business on the Auckland Stock Exchange lias been rather quiet over the past 24 hours. At this morning's call blading was scarcely so keen as it has been. In the banking section Commercials were the only lirm line, being quoted between £1 0/5 and £1 0/0. New South Wales were steady at £34 10/ to £34 17/6. Aew Zealands were weak, with best buyers at £2 5/9, and there were no offers for Reserves. ' Hie insurance section- was dull, with no buyers for Dominion issues. Auckland Gas shares were easier, with a market between £ 1 5/4 and £ 1 5/8, and Roller Mills were also easv, being quoted from £1 4/6 to £1 6/6. There was a good demand for Government stocks, and late rates were easily maintained. Woolworths (Sydney) con-i tinue to soar, and were quoted from £6 13/6 to £6 15/. Gas Shares Lower. At the noon call easing in Auckland Gas shares was confirmed with a sale 4d lower, at £1 5/6. Commercials improved, with business at £1 0/5. Weakness in Bank of Xcw Zealand persisted, and sellers dropped to last night's sale price of £2 6/6 without leading to business. INTEREST RATES. The return to the investor on his outlay, based upon the latest dividends, works out as follows on the latest sales. When Government stocks are included, the calculation provides for redemption at maturity; When payment is made in sterling, exchange is added.
