LEVIES FOR UNEMPLOYMENT.

CHARGES AT ONEHUNGA.

Henry Edge Halpin pleaded not guilty when charged before Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M., at the Oneliunga Police Court this morning with failing to pay instalments of general unemployment levy, which were owing from August, 1934, and amounted to £2 19/4, and penalty. When asked to produce his receipt, he handed to the magistrate some counter foils of postal notes, but could not produce his coupon book. He was ordered to pay the amount owing, with penalties, and fined 20/. with 11/ costs. The defendant told Mr. McKean that he would "take it out."

Bartholomew Mcllroy was fined £2 for a similar offence, amounting to £4 and penalties. James W. Robinson was ordered to pay 10/ costs, he having paid all instalments due for which he had been summoned before the case was called this morning.
