GRAVELY INJURED.
CAR DRIVER IN HOSPITAL. COLLISION ON" SHARP BEND. .(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, this day. Suffering from a broken right forearm, fractured, ribs and an injury to his lungs, and possibly a fractured skull, Mr. Lionel Hill, of Egmont Street, Patea, aged 20, an employee of the Patea Dairy Produce Grading Stores, is in a serious condition in the Hawera Hospital. He suffered his injuries in a collision on Saturday night between the car he was driving and a truck carrying Fitzrov Surf Club members from New •Plymouth to Wanganui. The smash occurred on a sharp bend on a hill one mile and a half south of Hawera. Mrs. Flora Gilmour, of Bedford Street, Patea, was also admitted to hospital with extensive scalp lacerations, but is reported to be progressing satisfactorily. Mr. and Mrs. R. R. Signal, of Patea, and three young children who were also passengers in Mr. Hill's car received cuts, and the majority of passengers in the «truck, which was driven by Mr. N. R. St. George, of Waitara, suffered slight cuts and bruises.
