CLAY-BIRD SHOOTING.
METROPOLITAN GUN CLUB. The Metropolitan Gun Club held a series of clay target matches at Mangere on Saturday. A good attendance found the high wind difficult for accurate shooting. The first seven-target sweepstake was divided by L. J. Stent (17yds), R. Mason (12yus), F. Kay-Stratton, 16yds, D. Hyauiason (13yds), all securing the possible.
The trophy match of 15 targets resulted in an outright win for L. J. Stent (17yds) with 14 breaks. R. Mason (12yds) and F. J. Hazard (15yds) were runners-up with 13 breaks each. A five- target gimcrack, back 2yds each shot, was won outright by R. Mason (11-19 yds) with the possible, a good performance. The afternoon's sport was completed with a partial round of skeet, the singles only being taken. C. E. Hodge was top scorer with 11 out of 16, R. G. White being next with 10.
The club is holding the 1038 North Island clay cliampionshis on March 20 and 21.
