JEWS IN LONDON.

Alleged Persecution by

Fascists.

HOME SECRETARY'S CONCERN.

LONDON, March 6,

Instances of persecution of Jews in the East End of London by Fascists were quoted by Mr. H. Morrison (Lab., South Hackney) in the House of Commons. He said* a Black Shirt who was a professional boxer had struck a Jew, and other Fascists bad threatened a Jewish woman that her millinery shop would be burned down.

Mr. Morrison stated that Fascists had pasted labels on houses and shops with the inscriptions: "Get back to the Ghetto" and "Perish Jiidali." A leaflet issued by the Imperial Fascist League said: "There are 3,000,000 Jews in Britain, almost the same number as the British unemployed." This was an incitement similar to'that on which the Nazi Government based the revolution of 1933.

The Home Secretary, Sir John Simon, confessed that lie was not satisfied with the situation in the East End. It had been decided to detail extra police there. It was not believed that there was any widespread hostility to Jews, but a disquieting movement was developing in certain quarters of London.
