OPENING MEETING.
£. The opening meeting for the year of the .Auckland. Women's Christian Tem•perajice Union was held in the clubroom, V.W.C.A., 011 Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. John Cook presided. There was a large attendance. The president spoke of tne great sorrow that the Empire had suffered in the death of its beloved King and paid a tribute to his Christian character (and example. Loyalty was expressed to. his son, Edward VIII., and the National Antlicm was sung. Mrs. Adjutant Dick, of the Salvation Army, conducted the devotional session and gave an impressive address on "Burden Bearers." Mrs. Taylor, recording secretary, was welcomed back after her holiday at Fiji. Miss McLay, Dominion organiser, gave an interesting talk 011 the work. She brought the programme of the coming Dominion convention before the members and emphasised the outstanding meetings and invited all to attend. Afternoon tea was served at the conclusion of the meeting.
