SINGER FAREWELLED.

Mrs. Jean MacFarlane, young Auckland contralto, was farewelled by a gathering of friends in the Green Lane Hall last week, prior to her departure for further training at the New South Wales State | Conservatorium of Music. The Mayor of I One Tree Hill, Mr. I. J, Goklstine, pre- ] sented Mrs. MacjT'arlane with a purse i containing a cheque, as tangible expression of appreciation and good will. A varied programme owed success to the following artists: —Mrs. MacFarlane, Miss J. Jones, Miss L. Foreman, the Misses Whitty, Mr. W. MacFarlane, Mr. G. Vryer, Mr. Garret, Mr. Trvine, Mr. J. Papescli, Mr. G. Harvey and Mr. Levett. The accompanists were Miss M. | Tinline and Miss Campbell.
