THE GREY LYiNIN SCHOOL.

REPRESENTATIVE GATHERING

Fully 1500 pupils, ex-pupils, parents and relatives the Grey Lynn school grounds on Saturday afternoon to celebrate the silver jubilee of the school. Under the bluo and gold banners of the school, setting out the respective years of their attendance, the pupils and ex-pupils assembled. The chairman was Mr. W. H. Newton, a past headmaster and chairman of the school committee. .Others present ineluded Messrs. W. H. S. Law, a past headmaster, and now an inspector, representing the inspectorate; J. M. Warn, a past headmaster; Mr. T. Turbott, the present headmaster, C. Norgrove, .A. H. Hibburt, and W. Shearer, past chairman of the school committee, and Mrs. S. Mcßride and Mr. C. Morris, representing the primary schools committee association.

Mr. J. A. Lee, M.P., represented, the Prime Minister. Mr. A. Rosser, the Mayor and City Council, Mr. T. U. Welis, the Auckland Education Board. All. three the gathering, and extended congratulations to the school.

A message was read from the Prime Minister, the Hon. M. J. Savage, stating his inability to be present owing to pressure of official duties, and conveying his good wishes. His Excellency Viscount Galway also sent a letter expressing regret at being unable to attend. Sir James Parr wrote London, congratulating the school "upon its jubilee. Sir James was chairman of the Education Board when the school was first opened.

The pupils gave an exhibition of drill, while th«re was also folk dancing.
