Jean Batten Says She Wants

To Do Better.

GREAT WELCOME IN PARIS,

PARIS, February 23.

The Auckland airwoman, Miss Jean Batten, is promised a great reception in Paris this week-end, when she will be the guest of Baronne de Vendeuvre, who has done much to promote the use of Red Cross aeroplanes.

Miss Batten spent the afternoon in the office of "Le Figaro" and in the evening was the guest of the French Aeronautic Federation, M. LaurentEynac presiding.

Tliis morning Miss Batten will be entertained at the Caudron Renault Company's aerodrome. She will have luncheon at the Roland Garros Club and dine at the Cercle Inter-AUie, where the Marquise de Noailles, who recently returned from an inspection of Red Cross outposts in Africa, Avill be a fellow-guest of honour.

Famous French airmen and airwomen attended a luncheon tendered to Miss Batten. They were astonished to see her so slight and girlish and were delighted with her modest answers to questions relating to her South American flight and with her declaration: "I want to do better. There are other records to beat."
