BOROUGH'S TRIBUTE.
FATHER McGRATH HONOURED. At the meeting of tlic Mount Albert Borough Council on Thursday it was resolved on the motion of the Mayor, Mr. R. E. Ferner, seconded by Mr. H. L. Kayes, that the council place on record its high appreciation of the work of the Rev. K. I. McGratli, S.M., who is transferring to Island Bay, Wellington.- In speaking to the motion, Mr. Ferner stated that Father McGratli had set a fine example of citizenship. His worth as a social worker was recognised by all, antl his fine friendship had been extended to everyone, irrespective of creed.
After the business of the council had been transacted, Father McGratli was tho guest of th<fe Mayor and council at supper. Tributes were paid by Mr. Ferner and all the members of the council, in amplification of the message of appreciation and good will recorded at the council's meeting. Father McGrath's departure, said Mr. Ferner, was regarded by members of the council as a personal loss, as well as a loss to the district. His part in fellowship gatherings of the various denominations, as well as in civic work generally, had promoted a fine spirit in the community, and lie would take with him the good will of everyone.
Father McGratli in reply, thanked the speakers for their great kindness, which ■\vas tho last of a long series. On all occasions the council and staff had cooperated with him in any good work done, - and their spirit had been ail inspiration to the people generally. He had had a fine body of helpers among his own church people, with whom it was always a pleasure to work whenever occasion arose. He wished the council and the district a full measure of prosperity.
