GUM PROSPECTING.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) DARGAVILLK, this day. A party of six Dalmatians was put to work at Maropiu I>y tlie Government last week prospecting for gum on a 5000-acre block of Crown land between Maropiu and the west coast. It is tlie intention of the Government, after having tried out the gumfields on the Kai-Iwi block, to extend operations to other Crown areas.
