I MAN'S NARROW ESCAPE. i WALL BLOWN OUT AT MANUREW.A. | One of the startling effects of the [ storm was the blowing out of a side i wall of Knight's Garage, at Manurewa. 1 The manager, Mr. Charles Pomeroy, was ' driving a car into the bnilding when, with a crash the wall which lie was I passing tlwough was blown out, carry- ' ing with it a huge steel curtain doorl way. s The doorway, which weighs nearly two ' tons, was blown over the car in which I Mr. Pomeroy was sitting. The wall 1 is partly built of concrete blocks, which i were scattered all over the road. All 1 electric power connections were also strewn across the street. ]\lr. Pomeroy said he heard a window 1 smash on the other side of the garage, 5 and then a roar like thunder through 3 the building. As he reached the inside the wall behind him went with a terri--1 fying crash.
