MAJOR OPERATION.
i NEW ZEALANDER'S ORDEAL. SYDNEY, February 2. Major J. It. Kirk, chairman of the Xcw Zealand headquarters of the Soldiers' Civil Re-establishment League, and chairman of the Dominion Council of the Boy Scouts' Association, is to undergo a major internal operation on Monday in St. Luke's Hospital, Sydney. 1 Major Kirk and Sir Benjamin Fuller 3 were recently involved in a motor accident while returning from Melbourne to Svdney. Both received severe scalp , wounds from which they recovered. A Wellington barrister, Major Kirk has been chairman of the Dominion Boy ' Scouts' Council for eight years and has visited England frequently on behalf of the scout movement. He has been Mayor of t\yo towns, Naseby and Giaborne, and is a director of several companies.
