PRIESTS DEPART.
Dr. L. T. Buxton, Administrator of St. Patrick's Cathedral, and the Rev. Father G., M. Colgan, parish priest, of Avondale, left by the Monterey last night 011 an extended tour abroad. They were accorded a warm-hearted farewell by hundreds of friends among both clergy and laity. In addition to paying a visit to Rome, . Fathers Buxton and Colgan will make a European tour. Leaving Sydney by the Ormonde, they will visit Egypt, the Holy Land and Greece before tliey go to Rome, where they plan to arrive at Easter. Later they will visit France and Belgium and will attend the Catholic summer studies at Cambridge, proceeding from there to the Catholic Congress at Warsaw, Poland. They also hope to visit Russia. On Wednesday night, in the Oddfellows' Hall, Avondale, Father Colgan was met and farewelled by the parishioners and the general public of Avondale. In presenting the parish priest with a wallet, Mr. G. Bell spoke of the good work done by Father Colgan during his 14 years of service in the district and assured him that he had the prayers and good wishes of all. They regretted that Father Colgan's ill-health compelled him to make the trip abroad and hoped that he would return completely restored in health. _ During the evening further presentations were made by the Ladies' Guild and by Mr. Woodhead, on behalf of tho Avondale Welfare Association,
