PALMERSTON NORTH, Friday. Good progress was made in the Dominion croquet championships to-day. Ihere were several surprises, notably the elimination of A. G. F. Ross by E. W Burgin in the men's championships. Mrs. Wood beat Miss Skeet in the open, event. Results:—

Open Championship.—First round: Mrs. Wood beat Miss Skeet, 26—23, 26—20; Mrs. Thomson beat Mrs. Gambrill, 19—26', 26—19, 26—23; F. C. Bryan beat Mrs. Mouat, 26 —6, 26—0; F. L.
