Other children »nd the child's mother saw the girl disappear, but thought at first that she was playing. As she did not reappear the alarm was given. Some older boys swimming in the vicinity hastened to the spot where the girl had last been seen and dived in an attempt to rescue her. They were unsuccessful and it was' two hours before the body was recovered. At an inquest held at Ohaupo before the coroner, Mr. G. A.
