The Auckland Trotting CluVs summer meeting was advanced a further stage at Alexandra Park on Saturday in beautiful weather. There was a large attendance, and tho track was fast. The Champion Handicap provided a fine contest, Rey Spec getting up in the last furlong to beat the pacemaker, Pegaway, by a head. The Great Northern Derby saw Valdor put up a splendid performance, as he lost a lot of ground at the start, and then won easily. The winner was decorated by Mrs. W. E. Parry, wife of the Hon. W. E. All the acceptors went to' the poet for the Bledisloe Handicap, Grace McElwyn being favourite, while there was also money for Smooger and Travis, and the public were not very far out in their selections, for Smooger narrowly ' beat the favourite, while Travis was the nearest to them at the finish. Travis, Glandore, Wee Machine and Grace McElwyn were prominent early, and this quartet were followed past the stands the firet time by Waress, Homeward, Francis Lincoln and Smooger.
