"FRIENDSHIP WALL."

FOR PERPETUAL MEMORY. (From Our Own Correspondent.) SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 10. A " friendship wall," constructed of stones gathered from all parts of the world, has been built and dedicated to the friends of Mr. and Mrs. Russell L. Tracy, and comprises one of the strangest monuments existing. The wall, fifty feet long and six feet high, was erected upon a concrete foundation in the spacious yard of the Tracy home in Salt Lake City, and includes 375 stones contributed by as many friends whose memories it is intended'to perpetuate. One stone came from King Tut's tomb, another from King Solomon's quarries in Jerusalem, another from South Africa, and others from Holland, the Takue Glacier in Alaska, and many other parts of the world. Each stone bears a number which identifies its donor, or stockholder, as the Tracys call them, and a copper box in one end of the Avail contains an alphabetical list of charter members of the friendship wall association.

The wall's purpose, Tracy and his wife explained, is "to make a collection of silent, constant, permanent and visible souvenirs, which will assist that invisible thing, most valuable of all our assets, namely, memory, in recalling and renewing the experiences and associations necessary to establish friendships." The wall was dedicated during a reception at the Tracy home.
