IMPROVING THE LONDON ZOO.

A wonderful new "Pets' Corner," which las been opened at the Zoo by Professor Julian Huxley, is drawing children and adults from all over London. The "Pets' Corner" is a green lawn, bordered by low railings, where the delighted children can meet and play with some of the amiable animals who are brought out in charge of their keepers. On the opening day the children were photographed with their favourite animals. Peter, the baby chimpanzee, proTided a large share of the fun, and a

delightfully 'solemn penguin walked round the green,*allowing small children to hold his flippers. A baby camel, a Shetland pony and a friendly python were also present, the latter being willing to wind himself round anybody's neck, if desired. Mickey, the tortoise, aged 100 years, carried small children for rides, and a beautiful little lion cub submitted shyly to being stroked and petted. A children's party is to be held every day at the Zoo, and Professor Huxley hopes that it will be possible, some "time in the future, to install a special Children's Zoo in the grounds.
