NEW WHEAT CROP.

PRICES TO BE FIXED IN JANUARY. According to a circular issued by the Wheat Committee, it is hoped to fix both buying and selling prices for the new crop wheat about the middle of January. The circular explains that under the Board of Trade (Wheat) Regulations, 1935-36, gazetted on December 12, all f.a.q. wheat grown in New Zealand is controlled by the Wheat Committee. Except insomuch as they relate to the Wheat Committee taking the place of the Wheat Purchase Board, the regulations for 1935-36 are the same as the previous regulations, and the operation of buying, selling and accounting for the wheat will be exactly similar to that under the Wheat Purchase Board.

All purchases of wheat from farmers made by the committee as from and including Monday, December 23, will be made at the prices fixed for wheat of the new crop. It is hoped to fix both buying and selling prices for the new crop wheat about the middle of January, and any wheat of the new crop which must be handled before that date may be bought from the grower and sold to the miller subject to the prices to be fixed. A proportion of warrants sufficient to cover early purchases will be issued to all mills during the first few days in January.
