'VARSITY TEAM FOR JAPAN

ASSEMBLY HERE MONDAY.

The members of the New Zealand University Rugby team to tour Japan assemble at Auckland over the week-end, and will meet at the University College at 9 a.m. A practice will be held at the Domain in the afternoon. A civic farewell has been arranged for Tuesday at noon, and according to present arrangements the team will lepe by the Aorangi at five o'clock the same afternoon to connect at Sydney with the steamer for the East. Mr. P. R. Martin-Smith (Wellington) sole selector, will also be manager of the side, which comprises:— Backs: McAuliffe (Canterbury), Rae (Victoria), Gillies (Otago), Parsons (Canterbury). Fookes (Otago), Wild (Victoria), Lewis (Auckland), Grant (Auckland). Watt COtago), Jones (Otago), Bush (Auckland), Tricklebank (Victoria). Forwards: Burke (Canterbury), Thomas (Auckland), Staco (Canterbury), Chapman (Otago). Eade (Victoria), Simmcs (Otago), Drake (Auckland), McVeagh (Auckland), F. J. Wilson (Canterbury), Hudson (Canterbury), Chesterman (Victoria), Laney (otago). ;.■• .. Green, of Otago, was in the original selection, but as he could not make thi trip Chcstcrman was chosen to fill the vacancy. Seven cames will be played in Japan and probably two at Hong Kong.
