A few months ago several Wanganui farmers, in conjunction with the Caw■thron Institute, subscribed sufficient money to send Dr. Miller to Southern Chile to procure a supply of insect parasites for destroyir;" +he bur on bidi-bidi. A letter has received from Dr. Miller stating chat on Ms arrival he found that the country had experienced an abnormally wet and bitterly cold Beaeon and had great difficulty in locating the insects. Hβ had later been ,very successful ia locating places where the insect grubs were very plentiful .and ■was collecting large numbers. These lad to be fed ia cages until they were xeady for transport through the tropics.
In addition to native labour, he had teen fortunate in obtaining the services iof an Englishman whom he was training ted that after he left the Englishman would he able to make monthly ehipXnents of parasites up till Marcfi.
The result of the liberation of these Insects -will be -watched great interest by $ie -woolgrowers of the North Island. Already there have been mumeroua inquiries •-whether liberation lean be extended to other districts as Wl as Wanganui.
