STANDARD PRICE.

PETROL RESELLER'S MOVE.

THROUGHOUT NEW ZEALAND.

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)

CHRISTCHURCH, Friday.

It is likely that the Government will be asked by the Dominion Petrol Resellers' Association shortly to consider the fixing of a. uniform retail price for petrol throughout New Zealand. Although no direct action is being taken from Canterbury, resellers here are stated to be strongly in favour of a standard rate, as the price here is lower by Id or more a gallon than in any of the other main centres.

Mr. J.' M. Preston, secretary of the Canterbury Resellers' Association, said he understood the Government was reviewing the Motor Spirits Regulation of Prices Act, and he expected some advice from the Dominion executive of the resellers shortly. It was not the wish of the Canterbury resellers to make undue profits, he said, but they desired to have a fair margin as in other centres.

Replying to a question about pricecuttino- Mr. Preston said there had been an outbreak of price-cutting recently, but there had always been price-cutting. The association had not come to a decision on this question.
