LECTURES ON OBSTETRICS.
GERMAN PROFESSOR'S VISIT,

STRATFORD, Friday.
The statement made yesterday by Professor Fraenkel, of Germany, the eminent authority on obstetrics, that the suggestion that he shoul& deliver lectures in New Zealand was not welcomed by the university authorities was referred to to-day by Dr. Doris Gordon, secretary of the New Zealand Obstetrical Society.
Dr. Gordon said the statement that the lectures were not wanted was incorrect. The Australian authorities had communicated with Professor Fraenkel pointing out that it was impossible to arrange lectures in the Christmas season. Dr. Gordon received the first advice of the professor's arrival on December 6. No direct advice was received from the professor. Under the circumstances no action was taken by the The science of obstetrics was international, added Dr. Gordon, and the society regrets that a distinguished visitor was unable to come to tjie Dominion at a season when the members could benefit by the visit.
