BUSES TO RACES.

Since the Labour party's sweeping victory at the polls Mr. Savage has on several occasions told the people that "when the verdict of history is written it will be found that we have remained true to the people by extending their liberties and safeguarding their right to govern." Now sir, being a person who , does not believe in condemning any person or political party until they have proved themselves, I must say that some '.rave fears liave already been aroused Fn my mind in regard to the attitude of our present Labour Transport Board (who sit as the Metropolitan Licensing; Authority) in Auckland. Being one of several thousand people who patronise that part of Ellerslie Racecourse known as the "Hill," I find that the Transport Board have refused to renew the licenses to the bus companies catering for the travelling public who use this part of the racecourse. Having, with thousands of others, always used the buses when travelling to Auckland's racecourses I now find that in the future 1 shall have to pay at least 2/0 to travel by taxi or walk to the trams at the Great South Road or the Avondale terminus, as the case may be. If this is the way in which the Labour party is coin" to extend the "liberties of the people" I must state that it is with the Tea tost alarm that I view the future policy of the «w Government.
