THE PERFECT PIG.
NEW GERMAN BREED,
BERLIN, November 12. 4 new race of pigs has been produced in Germany, free from the weaknesses of the ordinary domestic animal. After 11 vears' work the Kaiser Wilhelm Institute for Breeding Research at Muencheber" near Berlin, has succeeded in cross3ne wild boars with domestic sows and producing a race practically immune to the usual epidemics which play much havoc among young domestic pigs. Twenty-five out of every hundred of the lattcii die of disease in their first vear but only five out of every hundred of the new race. This would mean areduction of Germany's yearly loss through early mortality by £4,000 000. The new race has been cl'"istened tue "Muencheberg Bronze." This refers to their colour, which they derive from their wild ancestors. Otherwise their nhvsieal appearance resembles that of the usual domestic animals.
