"PEKE" INSURED.
KIDNAPPING PRECAUTION, '
HE'S GOING TO AMERICA,
(Special.—By Air Mail.)
LONDON, November 30.
A little white Pekingese dog—said t» be the only pure white "Peke" in England —has just been entered, in Lloyd's, insurance books as being covered against kidnapping risks while travelling to and in America. Mrs. Sammie Lewis, wifeand dancing partner of an American, stage artist, i.s the holder of the policyissued to her by the Canine Insurance Association, of Graeechurch Street, London. The policy is the first, of its kind, to be underwritten by Lloyd's. This is how the dog was bought: .Mrs. Lewis,, who had been appearing at the Piccadilly Theatre, got up early on three, mornings last week to go to Berkeley] - Square in the hope of seeing the baby son of the Duchess of Kent as lie was. taken for his morning airing. She did not see the. young prince. "All I sa-wf was the back of his pram," she said.
"But on the second visit I saw a littlft dog. lie wae standing at the end of a, lead, barking. He looked so cute that, I fell for him in a big way. It took my husband and me nearly a week to buy him. His owners were in the south of France. I won't tell you how much. I paid—it might give kidnappers ideas* He's been insured for over £100, any-, way, so you can tell he is no two-byw. four dog. We are boarding him oufe with the people who were looking after him when I first saw him back-to the States,"- ' " __?'?—~JSLZ£LM.
