AUCKLAND INCIDENT. CABINET CONSIDERATION. MINISTER HAS REPORT. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, this day. Shortly after Liking \office tlie Post-master-General, the Hon. F. Jones, called for a report 011 the alleged "jamming" of the Auckland broadcasting station IZB during an address by the Rev. C. Gi Scrimgeour. The Minister stated to-day that owing to the fact that lie and his colleagues had been «o busily engaged with important matters relative to their Departments he had not li.id an opportunity of discussing the report with them, but this and the general question of fcne broadcasting would engage Cabinet attention as early as possible in the New Year. The "jamming" incident occurred on the evening of Sunday, November 24, when interference, which radio experts said was deliberate, and which emanated from a powerful unknown set, rendered inaudible to many listeners an address given by the director of the Friendly Road station, the Rev. C. G. Scrimgeour. Prior to the interference Mr. Scrimgeour had been warned that his talk would "never go over." On the following day further interference occured at the station, the aerial at the transmitting station being tampered with. On the same day an experimental wireless set installed in a Post and Telegraph Department shed at Newmarket, was discovered, and it was generally thought that it was this set which had caused the interference. It was officially stated that this set was "possibly, during tuning-up, responsible for tho interference."
