EXPRESS LATE.

TRAIN FROM WELLINGTON. LIMITED OX TIME. As a result of a slip on the railway line near Plimmerton, the first express from Wellington did not arrive at Auckland this morning until 5.40 a.m., a -little over an hour and a half behind schedule. The Xew Plymouth section of tie train, however, was brought on direct from Taumarunui, and arrived at 7.28 a.m. This arrangement was made with tie dual object of avoiding as much inconvenience to passengers as possible, and also to give the delayed express an opportunity of making up some of the time lost with a lighter load. He limited express was not affected, and reached Auckland at the usual time, f-40 a.m. The Whangarei express was delayed for approximately 25 minutes to enable passengers for the Xorth who were arriving by the Main Trunk express to make the connection. The orthern train pulled out from Auckland "bout 9.5 a.m., but the delay was not sufficient to enable a connection with mails to be made, except for two closed hags for Whangarei. The rest, however, will be forwarded by this afternoon's train. Owing to the rush for seats on the united express this evening the carriages for Xew Plymouth will be run as a separate train. The Limited will H.eave the Auckland railway station at ' P-m. as usual with 12 cars attached, e 'usTial number with the reservations or the Taranaki province included. The ~train which will leave at 7.18 p.m. will consist of five carriages.
