SOLO TRIPS INVOLVE RISK. ECHO OF RECENT TRAGEDY. fßy Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Wednesday. The recent tragedy at the Fox Glacier, in which Guide Christie was lost, was referred to at a meeting of the committee of the Federated Mountain Clubs of New Zealand.
A motion was carried that the committee is of the opinion that solo trips by guides place them under an unnecessary risk and that this opinion should be conveved to the employers of mountain guides throughout New Zealand for consideration with the suggestion that, where such was not already the practice. endeavour should be made to ensure that in future guides always worked in pairs.
