POLICE INACTION.

ASSAULT ON A TEACHER. EDUCATION BOARD PROTEST. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Arising out of the recent Court proceedings successfully taken by it over an assault 011 a teacher at the Oliariu School, the Wellington Education' Board, having received a memorandum from the department that in the opinion of the Crown Law Oflice the police had sufficient power to take proceedings in such a case, to-day passed a motion that, in view of the failure oi the police to prosecute the offender, the board placed 011 record its emphatic protest at such inaction, and urged that in future arrangements be made that would ensure that pupils and teachers in schools should be given the fullest police protection.
