In the Hawke Cup elimination trial, South Auckland scored 280 against Bay of Plenty. Principal scorers: A. Lissetta 54, 11. Skeet 46, Stuart Hay, • the' exParriell left-hander, 3S. Bay of Plenty was dismissed in the first innings for 52. Going took five wicket* for 19 runs. In their second innings Sotith Auckland 1 made IS3 (Going 38, Winger 37, Clough 33), leaving Bay of Plenty to get 412 to win.
TARANAKI BEATS WANGANUI.
NEW PLYMOUTH, Friday. Only tiiree hours were required on thi second day of the Hawke Cup eliminaturn cricket game to-day, Taranaki beat-, mg W anganui by 169 runs. Taranaki completed its second innings for 89, Oliver taking five wickets for 20 rung, vvanganui compiled 55 in its second innmgs, Christensen taking seven wickets for 29 runs. In the first innings Taranaki scored 157 and Wanganui 22.
