It is generally believed that this fact increases Ireland's chances, but the New Zealanders are not pessimistic, j Some quarters criticise the wisdom of playing H. F. McLean on the side of the. scrum in preference to R. M. McKenzie, who is an excellent wet-weather forward. Mr. Meredith, Mr. S. S. Dean, chairman of the management committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union, Mail' cbestftr and Gilbert visited the Dail. They met Mr. de "Valera and Mr. Cosgrave. Mr. de Valera signed autographs and chatted to the party, asking questions about New Zealand. He wanted to know if the members of the team liked Ireland better. The team visited, the headquarters of tlie Irish Hospitals Trust Sweepstake. An official .promised a gift of a gold brooch to the first member of the team marrying within a yeaiv.
