WOOL SALE.
SUCCESSFUL FIXTURE. BROKERS' OFFICIAL REPORT.
After the "Star" went to press yesterday the Auckland wool sale was continued and finished up at about four o'clock in the afternoon. The buoyant tone noted during the morning was maintained throughout, and with steady bidding the increase registered in the earlier catalogues was evidenced until the final lots were disposed of. All concerned in the sale, buyers, brokers and fanners, appeared to be satisfied with what must on the whole be considered a satisfactory result. Most of the buyers spent election day in the city, and will leave to-night for Napier, which holds the second Dominion sales of the season on Monday. The arrangements for the sale were, as usual, well carried out by the Auckland Wool Brokers' Association.
The Auckland Woolbrokers' Association reports as follows: — The New Zealand wool selling season opened with the Auckland sale held at the Town Hall Concert Chamber yesterday. The olfering in the order of sale was as follows: — Bales. Dalgety and Co., Ltd 6,400 Abraham and Williams, Ltd 3,611 Alfred Buekland and Sons, Ltd. .. . 1,037 Fanners' Co-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd., and Norlh Auckland Farmers' Co-operative, Ltd. (in conjunction) 4,246 New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd 4,810 Total 20,707 There was a full bench of buyers, representative of all wool-consuming countries. Competition was keen throughout, bidding being very animated at times. Prices were in advance of those ruling last season, medium topinaking wools being lVfed to 2d up and good style super' wools being 2d to 2',6d better. Pieces also sold Well. Taking the sale throughout, the appreciation was more marked on medium and coarse wools rather than on fine grades. The wool generally was in bettor condition than has been the case for many years past and showed evidence of more care in the get-up. No doubt these factors contributed to the improvement in prices. The best price realised was 17'£d for five bales of super halfbred. The buying was fairly well distributed and about 00 per cent of the offering was sold under the hammer. The range of priccs was as follows: — November, 1935. Southdown — d. d.
