MARKET TONE GOOD. BREWERY SHARES FIRM. Election day failed to dampen the ardour of local investors, and orders were freely given on the Stock Exchange this morning. Banks and insurances were steady, with any changes favouring holders. National Banks were a shilling up, with a sale at £3 16/, and South British advanced a like amount, with business at £4 15/6. Government stocks maintained recent firmness, and after several parcels had been placed at late rates sellers held off, the only response to a demand for all issues being the offer of a parcel of '55's at £10S 7/6. The Noon Call. Business done at the noon call was less than that of the morning, and no sales took place in the room. The market was quiet and quotations were but little changed. Buyers for New Zealand Insurances arc williug to give 3d more, at £3 4/0, after a sale at £3 5/3. Woolworths (N.Z.) are appreciating. Buyers rose 2/. to £5 14/, while holders are steady at £6.
