STATION BURNED.
LUMSDEN RAILWAY. SECOND TIME RECENTLY. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) INVERCARGILL, this day. The Lumsden railway station, which was recently rebuilt, was destroyed by fire at 1.15 this morning for the second time within ten months. The cause is unknown, except that the lire originated in the roof at the back.
It was discovered by Mr. Bert Humphries, of Lumsden, who accompanied the Hon. Adam Hamilton and his secretary from Balfour, where Mr. Hamilton spoke in the course of his political campaign. The party roused the townspeople, but in the absence of fire-fighting appliances they could do little to subdue the flames. The building was quickly demolished. Nothing was saved. Kailway rolling stock in the station yard was removed to safety. The running of trains was not affected.'
