Jim Jeffries.

Former World Champion on Religion—Simple Philosophy. LOS ANGELES, October 15. James J. Jeffries, former world champion pugilist, who now resides at Burbank, near Los Angeles, and occasionally conducts four-round bouts among amateurs, paid a visit to the Porterville, California, Lodge of Elks, and offered his simple philosophy, saying: "I don't belong to any church; tJiO Elks' Lodge is good enough for me. I believe in charity. Dig until it hurts. I gave away my last dollar several times, but I got more back. Stay together, stick together—in that way you can accomplish more. Live up to the principles of Elkdom. - The golden rule is 0.K., or really a K. 0.," ho told "the boys" of the Portervillo Elks Club. "Live for and help tho other fellow, remember he is just as good as you. All of the men I have ever fought are my friends. I have no ill will toward anybody," Jeffries added.
