Sailing in a Hard Breeze—Nine Clubs Take Fart — Big Display of White Wings.

The yachting season on the was officially opened this afternoon in fine, though dull, weather. The "Royals," Ponsonby, Akarana, Victoria, Richmond, Devonport, Takapuna, Wakatere and Tamaki Yacht Clubs .combined their fleets for the occasion, and a series of races were held for the usual classes. A number of new boats took part, and their performances wore closely followed by a big gathering of enthusiasts on the King's v/harf. The season also opened on the Manukau Harbour, where the two local clubs held combined races and made one of the best displays seen at Onehunga for a long time.
