JAPANESE SWIMMERS.
PROJECTED N.Z. TOUR. ARRANGEMENTS NOT FINALISED. The council of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association has not yet completed arrangements for Japanese champions to visit New Zealand this summer. Although officials are hopeful that negotiations will be successful, nothing has been done so far. At the request of the honorary secretary to the council, Mr. B. O'Neill, inquiries will be made in Japan by a well-known Auckland athlete, Mr. S. J. Gudsell. It was Mr. O'Neill's report to the council on his arrangements with Mr. Gudsell that gave rise to a mistaken impression that a tour by a Japanese team would definitely take 1)1 The report that negotiations had been completed aroused considerable interest in Australia. The !New Zealand. Council leceived by cablegram requests from the New South Wales and Victorian Amateur Swimming Associations to state terms for appearances by the Japanese in Sydney and Melbourne.
