OBITUARY.

MRS. ANN ALLAN. An old and' highly-respected resident of Huntly, Mrs. Ann Allan, widow of the late Mr. James Allan, has died at Huntlv. Mrs. Allan, who was born at St. Vincent, Sydney, New South Wales, 70 years ago, had resided in the township for the past 20 years. Prior to comin"- to New Zealand she had had a private hospital at Footscray, bourne. On coming to New Zealand about 20 years ago, she took up nursing at Pupanga, Nelson, and she first aid to the miners of the district, as the only doctor available was about 70 miles away. From there she went to Whano-arei, where she had a nursing home." Owing to health reasons she gave up nursing and took over a confectionery business in Huntly. Her husband died five years ago. Mrs. Allan is survived by one daughter, Mis. F. Brook, and one son, Mr. James Allan, both of Huntly. There are six grandchildren.
