HOSPITAL PRICES.
COUNCIL FIXES SCALE. RETURN TO DAIRYMEN. A standard scale of prices for milk supplied in bulk to the Hoepital Board for consumption in the various hospital institutions, and to ships, to at the meeting of the AucklM Jlilk Council to-day. The new. scale comes into effect on December 1; &s a;, result of the introduction of the scale it was stated that the price of milk to tie infirmary will be reduced from 1/1 to lid, and that the varying prices paid by the hospital to its suppliers would be increased to lid a gallon. The new regulation lays it down that in the case of milk sold by a milk vendor to the Hospital Board for consumption in the various institutions under its control, or sold to -any..shipping company for .consumption on ships, and where the number of gallons;delivered in any one day exceeds; 125 gallons the price to be paid shall be lid. a gallon. A further provision makes it'..lawful for a milk vendor to sell to a shipping company for use on ships cream ffbicJ contains between 25 per ccut and JO |« cent by weight of milk fat, at a price o! 4/10 a gallon (including the cost of delivery within the milk disl.lo- , .). ■: Scales have also been concerning the prices to be paid u> toymen -upclyin" inilk to a vendo-.f''* supply under the above condition* Thev are as follows:—Where the miK" is pasteurised by the milk vendor, S-3-1 per gallon , , where the. milk is chilled h\ the rfflidor but not pasteurised by him, 8.7-Bdp« gallon; where the milk is neither chilled nor pasteurised by the vendor, 9.3-3.1 per gallon. If the delivery takes ph« elsewhere than at the dairy premiss the cost of transport is to be ae'nic by the purchaser. For the manufacture of ice cream milk may be sold by dairymen to,vc J dors (in cases where the qt'iautity.sola by the vendor to the manufacture! i> 20 gallons or over a day) at the follow ing prices:—Where the milk is pasteiif ised by the vendor, 5 1-Sd per-, gallon: where the milk is chilled by the'M' 1 vendor but not pasteurised by a> ll 5 7-Sd; where the milk is neither pasteurised nor chilled by the vendor G 5-Bd. Again the cost of transport i> borne by the purchaser. In regard to the prices fixed for «' hospital and ship supply it was s'» tfl that the vendor was left a margin ' 2 7-Sd a gallon.
