CONSTANT INTERJECTIONS,

MR. a E. CLARKE AT EPSOM. In a friendly way Mr. Clifton E. Clarke, National Government candidate for Eden, criticised in an impartial manner both the Labour and Democrat parties when he spoke at the Epsom Library last evening. The Labour party, he said, would have to take its orders from outside Parliament. A Voice: Yon will be told by the banks what to do. Mr. Clarke eaid he had heard _ a Labour candidate urge tho confiscation of wealth. A Voice: Name. Mr. Clarke: Mr. Schramm. The candidate referred to the present stability of the country, and said that money had a definite value. A Woman: The pound is worth eixteen shillings. Money and Prices. Proceeding, the candidate said that the main planks of the Labour party's platform were the creation of money, and guaranteed prices which the farmers did not want. It would mean the loss of the people's savings. A Voice: We haven't got any. The only thing that the Democrats might do, said Mr. Clarke, was to put the Labour party into power. A Voice: Good job too. (Laughter.) The Candidate: Mr. Stallworthy eaid that I was paid to etand and split the vote in Eden, but my pay will not start until after November 27. A Voice: Perhaps. (Laughter and applause.) Mr. Clarke: Mr. Stallworthy disfranchised a large number of the electors of Eden. He was pledged to support the Government and he deserted them. A Voice: He went by his conscience. Mr. Clarke said that Mr. Stallworthy in a circular had offered 13 criticisms on the Government. One criticised the Government for the cuts that; had to be made. A Voice: They didn't cut us. They bled ue. (Laughter.) Another Voice: Bled us white. (More laughter.) Mr. Clarke received a vote of thanks and confidence.
