GERMAN CLUB.
NEW ROOMS OPENED. The Auckland German Club celebrated the culmination of three years' effort last evening when they celebrated the official opening of their new club rooms. The rooms, which include a stage, a dance floor, lounge and library, presented a pleasing scene with their softtoned curtains and brightly coloured cushions presented by members, and their floral decorations of roses, poppies and dark blue cornflowers, which showed up clearly against the deep cream of the walls. On one wall hung the British flag, and on the other the German, while the German national emblem, the swastika, held pride of place at the back of the stage. After the singing of the British National Anthem the gathering sang the German national anthem. "Deutschland, Deutschland, Über Alles," and saluted the national flag with the right-arm salute. The president, Mr. A. R. Leuschke, received tho guests, assisted by Mrs. Leuschke, who woro jubilee blue georgette. Mr. Leuschke, who officially opened the rooms, extended a welcome to Captain F. Bauer, Dutch Consul for the Netherlands, and Mrs. S. Schneider, recently returned from Australia. Short speeches were made by the treasurer, Mr. K. W. Schmidt, who gave a brief outline of the history of the club, and the vice-president, Mr.. W. J. McMillan, J.P., who spoke on behalf of the English members. Bouquets were presented to Mrs. Leuschke, Mrs. Schneider and the performers in tho concert programme presented by the German Club orchestra. Items rendered by the orchestra, under the conductorehip of Mr. H. C. Engel, included "The Gipsy Caravan" (Oscheit), "Die Fledermaus" (Johann Strauss), "Cavatina," Op. 314 No. 2 (Bohm), "La Bella Valenciana" (Kaempfert), "Songs of the Fatherland" (arranged by Hans See), "Freiheitsgeist" (Bahlmann), "Hungarian Melodies" (arranged by Debroy Somers), and "Songs of Germany" (arranged by Margis-Berger). Pianoforte solos were played by Miss S. Mowbray, and songs were eung by Miss A. Harrisson and Mr. W. Garratt, accompanied by Mrs. F. Jury. The evening concluded with dancing and supper.
Members of the ladies' committee present were: Miss Munro (secretary), who wore midnight blue velvet; Miss Watts (treasurer), in floral spun eilk; Mrs. M. Grapengiesser, smoke blue georgette; Mrs. Reimann, red eatin; Mrs. Williams, black and white satin; Miss I. Leuschke, shell pink crepe de chine; Miss C. Harder, white frilled net and white satin. Others present included: Mre. H. Engel, black georgette; Mrs. K. W. Schmidt, black and white figured panne velvet; Mrs. A. Zimmer, black Chantilly lace; Mrs. H. Rice, black and rose floral crepe suede; Mrs. J. T. F. Mitchell, black taffeta; Mrs. H. Rau, wine and white eatin; Mrs. E. Langguth, -black eatin; Mrs. W. Kersten, ivory lace and net; Mrs. Jagusch, black ninon; Mrs. J. W. Edwards, black velvet; Mrs. R. Fenton, black panne velvet; Mrs. B. Taylor, floral marocain; Mrs. E. R, Pickering, ivory satin; Mrs. G. Williams, black and white satin; Mrs. J. H. Buckland, midnight blue floral satin; Mrs. J. C. Pawley, shell pink crepe; Mrs. A. Murdoch, brown lace; Mrs. L. Newhook, black lace; Mies O. Leuschke, periwinkle blue craquelle; Miss Doris Kersten, eau de nil satin; Mies E. Schneider, old rose georgette; Miss M*. Schneider, apple green satin; Miss M. Zimmer, Marina blue georgette; Miss M. Partridge, lemon sprigged chiffon; Miss F. Ryder, eage green flat crepe; Miss E. Buckland, blue floral marocain; Miss S. Mowbray, cyclamen pink georgette and net; Miss A. Harrisson, black panne velvet; Miss A. Leighton, black souple satin; Miss M. Burgees, bottle green crepe; Miss J.
