LEAGUE FOR PEACE.
THE MONTH'S ACTIVITIES. The usual meeting of the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom was held on Tuesday at the Fabian Club, Mrs. Pickett presiding. In connection with the Bible in sehoole it was decided not to send a delegate to tho league, it being considered that the Sunday schools were quite competent and sufficient for the purpose aimed at. A local correspondent wrote asking the meeting to endorse a request to tho League of Nations that all backward countries should be placed under the control of the League. It was pointed out that the executive of the Women's International League at Geneva, with a full knowledge of all that wae taking place in Europe, had passed a iveolution at its meeting last September asking the League- of Nations to uphold its guarantee of the complete independence and territorial integrity of Ethiopia, and to oppose the idea of dividing it up in any way between the nations under the camouflage of economic or administrative concessions. This was endorsed by the meeting, also a motion asking the League of Nations to forthwith undertake an examination of the riehed of the world with a view to satisfying the needs of all men in the matter of raw materials, etc., and to consider the problems of international control, finance and exchange arising therefrom. It was decided to nominate Miss Eleanor Moore, of tJie Australian section, and well known in Auckland in connection with the Pan-Pacific Congress, for the position of president of the next International Congress, which will probably -De lield in America. Mrs. M. M. Iheiivcr, J.P., gave an address on hospital administration and the problems confronting the members of the board—some surprising information being given in connection with the number of hours worked by some members of the staff and the need for more nurses. The meeting concluded with afternoon tea.
