LOCAL BODIES.
GLEN EDEN TOWN BOARD. The ordinary meeting of the Glen Edeu Town Board was held last evening, Mr. A. J. Routley presiding. Auckland Centenary, 1940. —Messrs. A. J. Routley and C. P. Dorn were appointed the board's representatives to the conference in connection with the celebration of Auckland's Centenary in 1940. Mosquito Menace.—lt was decided to circularise residents in terms of the Health Department circular advising that a general clean-up of the properties was required to destroy breeding places of mosquito pests, etc. An inspection of the district by the health officer is to be carried out shortly and legal action taken where warranted. Municipal Offices.—Six tenders were received for the erection in brick of municipal office buildings. The tender of Ravenhall, Ltd., at £1260 (lowest) was accepted and the work is to commence immediately. Hall Loan.—lt was decided to apply to the Local Government Loans Board tor sanction to hold a poll of ratepayer on the proposal to borrow £3000 to bui'd a town hall. Urban Lands Rebate.—lt was decidea to apply in terms of the Finance Act, 1935, for a rebate of 12% per cent of the rates payable on properties included in the urban farm lands list of the district. The amount when received will be passed on to the ratepayers concerned. Rates. — Judgment summons is to be taken against ratepayers in arrears with rates for the year 1933-34 failing payment by December 31, 1035. " '
