MASS MEETING. AN APPEAL TO ALL CHRISTIAN WOMEN! This is an appeal from 200 Auckland women to 50,000 Auckland women, an appeal to give their active support to the group of Auckland Clergy, and assist ' them e in bringing about conditions more in keeping with Christian principles and teachings. We are living in a wonderful little country, and in the midst of abundance. Fertility of soil and climatic conditions have made possible a record per capita production. In things that matter—the real necessities of life—it is the richest country in tho world. Yet, what do we find? A record per capita number of unemployed; one-stxth of our total population living under conditions that amounf practically to destitution, deprived in many instances of the bare necessities of life. AND A RECORD INCREASE IN SUICIDES AND MENTALLY AFFLICTED. What are we going to do about it? Are we going to stand idly by and suffer a continuance of such intolerable, ridiculous conditions? Or are we going to insist on a remedy? For the last four years the economic life of this country has been ONE LONG DENIAL OF EVERY CHRISTIAN PRINCIPLE, MAKING A SHAM OF CHRISTIANITY, and the results can only be moral and physical degeneration. • 1 Are we going to tolerate such conditions indefinitely? Are we going to jeopardise the security of our homes and the happiness of our families? Are we going to wait until our savings are gone and find ourselves among the unemployed ? Think it over! And if you feel that you tfish to give expression to the protest which should be felt by every thinking woman, come to tho Mass Meeting of Citizens to be held in the . • AUCKLAND TOWN HALL, . WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 13, AT 8 P.M. SPEAKERS: THE REV. A. J. GREENWOOD (Chairman). THE REV. MARY DRBAVER, J.P. DR. E. B. GUNSON, MISS. RUTH COLEBROOK, THE REV. F. J. HANDY, MRS. CHRISSIE SMITH, MR. KENNETH MELVIN. • '* • ■ . **■
