The council conference, held on Thursday, had been very successful. It had been said that these conferences had outlived their but iinf-'irould agree with that opinion. The very fact that they brought delegates ■together from all parts of the Dominion, and gave them an opportunity to discuss jtheir troubles was sufficient reason for ■keeping these conferences going. The new rales adopted would, he hoped, cany v them on for a number of years and cover every possible point. .■/.Mr. Fraser added that he wished to compliment Canterbury on its fine pevfwmance in winning the Plunket Shield. However, after a conference that day there had been an amicable settlement, and the matches would be of four days' duration as at present.
