AUSTRIA CELEBRATES.
RECEPTION IN AUCKLAND.
The 17th anniversary of the foundation of tho Austrian Republic falls today. On November 11, 1918, tho Emperor Charles abdicated his throne and the following day representatives of tho German speaking population of the Austro-Hungarian Empire proclaimed tho Republic.
Special national songs will be sung by tho Viennese Boys' Choir at His Majesty's Theatre this evening when tho Austrian Trade Commissioner, Mr. O. J. Thedens, will entertain members of the Consular Corps, representatives of foreign clubs and Austrian residents in Auckland.
This afternoon a reception -was held in honour of the Austrian national day by Mr. Walter F. Boyle, Consul for tho United States of America and dean of the Consular Corps, and Mrs. Boyle at their residence. The guests included Mr. and Mrs. Thedens, members of the Consular Corps and the Viennese Boys' Choir.
