SHIPPING NEWS.

WANGANELLA AND AKAROA. CITY OF BAGDAD DUE. The Wanganella left shortly after 11 o'clock this morning for Sydney with 115 passengers, mail and cargo. She should arrive on Monday afternoon. The departure of the Shaw,* Savill liner Akaroa has been deferred until 4 a.m. to-morrow. She goes to London, via Panama and Curacao, and is due at London on December 11. Thirty-five passengers have booked here. The City of Bagdad, under charter to the Union Company, will make port from New York at daybreak to-morrow and berth at the Prince's wharf. She left New York on October 9. Aorangi left Sydney at 4 p.m. yesterday for Auckland. She arrives early oil Monday morning and leaves at 11 a.m. on Tuesday for Vancouver. (U.S.S. Co.) Port Waikato, which has undergone her annual overhaul, is to sail for Wellington this afternoon. (N.S.S. Co.) Port Whangarei was due to sail at 3 p.m. to-day for Nukualofa. She brings fruit for Auckland on her return. (U.S.S. Co.) Brisbane Maru arrives this afternoon from Wellington and is due to sail for Japan, via Sydney and Brisbane, at noon to-morrow. (F. Co-op.) Lurline leaves Melbourne at noon tomorrow and Sydney at 11 a.m. on Wednesday for Auckland. She is due here at 7 a.m. on Saturday week, sailing at 1 p.m. for San Francisco. (H. and M.)

Waipiata returned this morning from Portland, and sails for Wellington, Pieton, I.yttelton, Duncdin, Bluff and Timaru at 10 p.m. Wingatut sailed from Dnnedin at 7.30 p.m yesterday for Oamaru, Timaru, Lyttelton and Auckland Waimarino arrived at BlulT at 5 p.m. vesterday and is expected to sail to-night for Auckland, via ports. Waltaki sailed from Lyttelton at 5 p.m. yesterday for Auckland, via Wellington, Pieton and Napier. She is due here about Friday next. Port Whangarei sails at 3 p.m. to-day for Nukualofa, to load fruit for Auckland. Kairanga sails at 3 p.m. to-morrow for Melbourne and Adelaide.

The steamer Nolisement, which is en route from Seychelles Island to New Zealand with a cargo of guano, will unload a quantity of cargo at Bluff and the remainder at Port Chalmers and Auckland in that order. She is expected at Bluff about November 20 and at Auckland about the end of the month. Reported to have cleared Curacao on Monday the Shaw, Savill and Albion liner Mataroa is en route from Auckland to London. She sailed from Auckland on October 11. The New Zealand Shipping Company's liner Kotnrua arrived at Suva from Loudon on Tuesday. After unloading cargo for Fiji she will proceed to Wellington to land passengers for New Zealand, the cargo being for Lyttolton. Port Chalmers and Bluff. She is due at Wellington on November 15. DUNEDIN STAR LAUNCHED. The Blue Star Line Diesel-engine-d cargo steamer Dunedin Star, of 10,000 tons, was launched at Camraeli Laird s yards in Birkenhead, last week. The building of a sister ship has already begun. Sir Edmund Veste.v said that the discovery by Government Research Departments of a method of shipping chilled meat from New Zealand and Australia called for the building of £ 5,000,000 worth of new ships for the trade.
